The choice of the compound is a crucial factor for the quality and durability of technical rubber items.

There are several applications that rubber products can have.

Contact with oil, gasoline, fuels, lubricants in general or with any other aggressive substance, or a working environment with high or low temperatures, are all factors that are of fundamental importance in the choice of the material used.

In fact, there are a number of  mixtures with different usage characteristics that we usually use such as:  CR (Neoprene), NBR (Nitrile), NATURAL (NR), EPDM, VAMAC (AEM), SBR, EPICLORIDRINA, SILICON (VMQ)  and FLUOROSILICONE (FVMQ) and others and we have no difficulty in finding further compounds with the required technical characteristics. The mixtures can have a hardness that can range from 30 Sh A to 95 Sh A and you can also use colored compounds. Depending on the criticality of the article there is the possibility of having certified and produced mixtures according to the specifications required. Below is a brief summary table of the main characteristics and uses of the various mixtures:

VMQ Silicone Da 20 a 80 Sh Da -65 a +200°

Perfect behavior at high and low temperatures. Excellent resistance to weather and ozone. Excellent behavior to residual deformation after compression. Negative features: Modest mechanical properties. Bad behavior in contact with oils, benzines and fuels in general. Chemical Resistance: Chlorinated, solvents, UV Rays, Ozone, Oxygen, Cold and Heat, physiological liquids, supports oxidants.

Poor resistance to:

Aromatic mineral oils (except for a few particular silicones);

Fuels (except for some particular silicones);

Overheated water vapour at more than 120 degrees Celsius;

Acids and alkali have destructive action on the material;

Oils and silicone fats

Seals of all types; tubes for hot air and oxygen pipes; Electrical insulation for ships, aircraft, hot containers; Coatings for cylinders for example for sticky materials.

.

FVMQ Fluorosilicone Da 30 a 80 Sh A -55 a + 200°

Fluorosilic has properties similar to silicone mixtures, but the presence of fluoride in the composition greatly increases its compatibility with animal oils and minerals for the entire working temperature range, to alphilic and aromatic hydrocarbons, to acids. Discrete mechanical properties, excellent radiation resistance (gamma rays and UV), excellent dielectric properties. Excellent resistance to oxidation, ozone and weather. Good water resistance and diluted salt solutions

Not compatible with silicone oils and alkali (also diluted), water vapor above 120 degrees Celsius. Poor gas waterproofing, self-extinguishing.

Seals of all types; tubes for hot air and oxygen pipes; Electrical insulation for ships, aircraft, hot containers; Coatings for cylinders for example for sticky materials.
